Krankbrother brings five days of electronic music to Finsbury Park, turning the outdoor space into a full scale dance floor. Known for pairing carefully chosen DJs with ambitious production, these are big summer parties made for long afternoons outside and dancing well into the evening. Each date is ticketed.
Kilburn High Road Festival | 📍Kilburn High Road, NW6 | 31 July - 15 August | Free
Sixteen days of free performances, music and exhibitions along Kilburn High Road, made by and for the people who live here. Highlights include Passages, a promenade walk drawing on 95 real stories of Kilburn nights out; Reel Kilburn, an evening of local film history; and the Kilburn House Band playing live at Kilburn Market. Presented by Kiln Theatre.
Islington Festival of Music and Art | 📍Various venues across Islington | 24 July - 2 August | (£)
This started as garden concerts during lockdown in 2020 and has since grown into a ten-day festival across Islington. Yoga with a harp, swing dancing at the Angel piazza, Sidney Bechet-inspired jazz, and Edward Elgar meets Oscar Wilde. The theme this year is music inspired by literature, from Shakespeare to Tolstoy and Dante to Wilde. Intimate venues throughout the borough including Little Angel Theatre, Old Sessions House and Christ Church Highbury.
Big Summer Black Marketplace Popup | 📍St Michael’s Church, NW1 | 1 August | Free
More than 50 Black-owned businesses come together for a day of fashion, jewellery, skincare, books, art and food from across the African and Caribbean diaspora. Browse new brands, pick up something you will not find on the high street, then stop for Trini doubles, jerk, jollof or something sweet. 12pm to 6pm. Free ticket required..
ZSL 200th Anniversary History Tour: Pop Culture | 📍London Zoo, NW1 | 2 & 22 August | Free tour, zoo admission required
See London Zoo through the books and films it has inspired, from Winnie the Pooh to Harry Potter. A zoo guide will share stories about the animals, people and architecture that have appeared in popular culture across its 200 year history. Tours start at 11.30am and last around an hour. Book the tour in advance and purchase zoo entry separately.
Roundhouse Comedy Festival | 📍Roundhouse, NW1 | 1 to 18 August | (£)
Eighteen days of stand up, live podcasts and big names taking over the Roundhouse. Joe Lycett, Katherine Ryan, Ed Gamble, Sara Pascoe and Sam Campbell are among the headliners, alongside newer acts and solo shows from Kristen Schaal and Jack Rooke. Hundreds of tickets are available for £5 if you are 30 or under, making this a good time to take a chance on someone you have never seen before.
Enfield Art Circle Exhibition | 📍Capel Manor Gardens, Enfield | 1 to 16 August | (£)
See what Enfield’s local artists have been painting, drawing and creating at this annual exhibition inside Capel Manor Gardens. Framed works will be on display and available to buy, so you may leave with a new favourite for the wall. Entry is included with garden admission and no booking is needed. Open 10am to 5pm, with last entry at 4pm.
Community Orchard Picnic | 📍Broomfield Park, N13 | 2 August | Free
Pack a picnic and sit among the apple trees while local musicians play folk, blues and mellow summer tunes. That Blue Patch, The Reprobates, Oscar Schaffer and Harriet Howarth are on the bill, with refreshments and a tug of war too. This is the rescheduled date after the earlier picnic was postponed. 1pm to 5pm.
The Clocktower Festival | 📍Caledonian Park, N7 | 2 August | Free
Free community festival in Caledonian Park, under the Victorian clock tower the park's known for. Opera singer Mary Bevan sings with a string quartet in the woodland amphitheatre, and there's a bouncy castle, a climbing wall, a dog zone, food stalls and live music. 12pm to 6pm.
Indo-Japanese Supper Club | 📍Cool Carrot, N6 | 2 August | (£)
Two chefs, best friends, cook a five-course meal that folds their two childhood cuisines into one: Japanese and Indian on the same plate. Watermelon with tamarind chutney, cold somen noodles, tiger prawns in coconut and turmeric with hoppers, then a rasmalai made with mochi. You eat at long shared tables, so you turn up not knowing anyone and leave having eaten with strangers. From 6pm.
Secrets of The Simpsons | 📍Upstairs at The Gatehouse, Highgate, N6 | 2 August | (£)
How do you write thousands of jokes, win four Emmys and somehow keep predicting the future? Mike Reiss, who spent 36 years writing for The Simpsons, shares stories from inside the writers’ room, reveals how the jokes are built and explains what really went into some of the show’s most loved years. There is also a Q&A, so come armed with the Springfield question you have always wanted answered. 7pm to 9pm.
100 People Do Nothing for 3 Hours | 📍Secret London location | 2 August | Free, donations welcome
What happens when 100 people put their phones away and stop trying to fill every second? This social experiment asks you to spend three hours in silence with nothing to read, watch, complete or achieve. You can sit, lie down, sleep, stretch or simply see where your mind goes when there is nothing demanding your attention. Bring water, a pillow, blanket and yoga mat. The address is shared after approval (hopefully its in North London), entry may not be guaranteed if the room fills up, and parts of the session will be filmed using wide shots and time lapses.

Bring a book you loved and are ready to pass on, then tell the group why someone else should read it. You will swap recommendations, browse what everyone has brought and leave with a new book for your shelf. Pack a blanket and picnic snacks too. 11am to 1pm.
Ghana Party in the Park 2026: ShattaFestUK | 📍Copthall Playing Fields, NW4 | 1 August | (£)
Think of this as a nine-hour outdoor celebration of Ghanaian music and culture, rather than a standard concert. Shatta Wale is on the line-up, but the day is built around the wider festival, not one headline performance. Advance tickets start at £30, under-11s enter free before 4pm with a paying adult, and there is no re-entry once you leave. 12pm to 9pm.
The Camden Fringe | 📍Various venues across Camden and beyond | 3-30 August | (£)
For four weeks, Camden fills up with more than 450 shows across 39 venues. Expect comedy, theatre, music, dance, opera, improv and plenty of ideas that are still rough around the edges in the best way. Most shows last about an hour, so you can book something on a whim, discover someone brilliant before everyone else does, or see the strangest thing in the programme just because you can.
RCP Museum Taster Tour | 📍Royal College of Physicians Museum, NW1 | 5 August | Free
Step inside a museum that is usually closed to drop-in visitors and explore 500 years of medical history. An expert guide will use old instruments, artworks and objects to tell stories about how medicine has changed over time. The tour lasts 30 minutes, with an optional medicinal garden tour afterwards. Starts at 1.30pm.
Evening Talk: Burglary, Housebreaking and the Story of Jack Sheppard | 📍The London Archives, EC1R | 5 August | (£)
Meet Jack Sheppard, the 18th-century burglar who became famous for repeatedly escaping from prison. Historian Dr Anna Cusack explores his life alongside other Londoners sentenced to death for burglary and housebreaking, at a time when both crimes could lead to the gallows. The talk lasts around an hour, followed by questions. 5.30pm to 7pm.
360 Stories Presents: Hot Mess | 📍London Bike Studio, N16 | 6 August | Free
A night of true stories about missed flights, bad decisions, texts that should never have been sent and the disasters that somehow became good stories. Anyone can take the mic, with live music from Sunny Reyne and time to chat afterwards. Most of the seating is on the floor, so bring a pillow. The café will be open. Starts at 8pm.
Queer Art & French Wine | 📍BOYS! BOYS! BOYS! Gallery Café, W1T | 6 August | (£)
See photographer Aldo del Bo’s work, meet the artist and spend the evening over French wine with a crowd of queer people and allies. Your first glass is included, with prints and merchandise available to buy. Tickets also include a guest list entry to Heaven later that night. 6pm to 9pm. Ages 21+.
The Grand Summer Vintage & Flea Market London | 📍Royal National Hotel, WC1H | 7 August | (£)
More than 50 traders bring vintage clothes, old furniture, vinyl, artwork, collectibles and the sort of strange little objects you only find by rummaging. Go with something specific in mind or simply see what turns up. There will also be food, refreshments and entertainment throughout the day. 10am to 5pm.
Pubs Through Time: A Tour of Tottenham’s Coaching Inn History | 📍Tottenham High Road, N15 | 8 August | Free
Walk the old coaching inn route along Tottenham High Road and hear about the pubs, breweries and families that once kept travellers fed, watered and moving. Local historian Oona Kelly will also explain how these inns became important meeting places for business, local decisions and everyday life. Meet outside Tesco at 10.45am for an 11am start. The walk lasts two hours and finishes near Bruce Grove.
Amongst the Trees and Terraces: Donald Chisholm Towner | 📍Burgh House, NW3 | 12 August | Free
Burgh House curator Amy Miller looks at the life and work of Donald Towner, an artist who spent 50 years painting Hampstead’s streets, gardens and changing views. His pictures capture a greener, quieter side of the neighbourhood, including places that have since disappeared. The talk starts at 1.30pm and lasts 45 minutes. Booking is required.
Bars on a Bus | 📍Ludo’s, N22 | 12 August | (£)
An open mic for poetry and spoken word, held beside Ludo’s bus in Wood Green. Sign up from 7pm if you want to perform, or come along to listen. Names are chosen at random, though the organisers hope to give everyone who signs up a turn. 7pm to 10.30pm.
The Book Pitch | 📍Black Pig with White Pearls, N16 | 13 August | (£)
Bring the book you think more people should know about and prepare to make your case. You will have an hour to shape a three minute pitch, then the room votes yay or nay. No spoilers, just strong opinions, overlooked favourites and plenty of new additions to your reading list. Doors open at 6.30pm. Adults only.

Slow down and spot the edible plants and fruit trees hiding across Stoke Newington. This gentle 90 minute walk through Abney Park and Clissold Park is less about filling a basket and more about noticing what is growing around you, hearing the stories behind London’s urban fruit and spending time outdoors at a slower pace. It ends at Bloom & Bake with refreshments and a chance to chat with the group. 11am to 1pm.

Jazzie B, founder of Soul II Soul, takes over the decks for an early evening set by the canal. Grab a wristband for food discounts around the market, then stay for the music or make a night of it around Camden. 5pm to 8pm. Walk-ins are welcome, though booking is encouraged.
Guided Bird Walk | 📍Walthamstow Wetlands, N17 | 23 August | (£)
Learn how to spot and identify the birds living around Walthamstow Wetlands on this beginner-friendly walk with the London Wildlife Trust. The route lasts around 90 minutes, with tips along the way and a few binoculars available to borrow. Sightings are never guaranteed, but that is part of the fun. Adults and ages 11+ with an adult.
London Gaming Market | 📍Royal National Hotel, WC1H | 23 August | (£)
Go looking for the game you were obsessed with as a child, or the console you wish you had kept, or something wonderfully unnecessary for the shelf. Traders fill the hotel with retro games, consoles, rare imports, artwork and gaming memorabilia. Entry gets cheaper through the day, from £9 at 10.30am to £4 after 3pm, when it is usually calmer. Under fives go free, and under 16s are free with a paying adult after 3pm. Open until 4.30pm.
Margarita Journey | 📍Starts at Sorbito, N16 | 22 August | (£)
Spend the afternoon hopping between three bars, with a margarita in each and tequila or mezcal samples along the way. A host will lead the walk, share a little local and drinks history, and take you into a mix of hidden spots and neighbourhood favourites. Expect three margaritas, three spirit tastings and plenty of time to settle in between stops. 2pm to 4.30pm.

Forty vintage traders take over Abney Public Hall with furniture, records, old clothes, French homeware, lamps, textiles and plenty of things you were not looking for until you saw them. It is free to enter, dog friendly and right by the cafés, pubs and independent shops of Stoke Newington Church Street. Open 10am to 5pm both days.
Sourdough Pizza and Focaccia | 📍Hampstead, NW3 | 21 August | (£)
Learn how to make crisp, chewy pizza and soft focaccia in an ordinary home oven. You will mix and shape the dough by hand, add your toppings, bake everything from scratch and eat the results. Take home pizza dough and a sourdough starter so you can try it again in your own kitchen. The class contains wheat and sesame and takes place in a home with cats.

Long before hotels, London was full of rented rooms, guesthouses and temporary lodgings. Historians Lester Hillman and Dr Gillian Williamson explore where travellers, merchants and new arrivals stayed, and how these spaces became places for business, gossip and opportunity. The talk takes place inside the Horse Hospital, a former two-storey stable dating back to 1797. 7pm to 9pm.
Finders Keepers: The Secret Life of Second Hand Books | 📍Oxfam Books & Music Islington, N1 | 26 August | (£)
For anyone who cannot pass a second hand bookshop without having a look. Author and devoted book collector Nicholas Royle is coming to Upper Street to share the stories, oddities and unexpected finds hiding inside used books. Stay afterwards for the signing, refreshments and a browse around the shop, which even gets a mention in the book. Doors open at 6.30pm, talk from 7pm to 9pm.
Songs & Stories: Raw, Loud and Bigger | 📍The Camden, NW1 | 28 August | (£)
Hear independent bands and solo artists perform live, then share the stories behind their songs, sound and journey. This larger edition brings louder guitars and more emerging musicians to the stage, while keeping the personal introductions that make the night different from a standard gig. Doors open at 5.30pm, with music from 6pm to 11pm. Under 18s must attend with a parent or legal guardian.

Bring a picnic and settle in for an afternoon of live music on the Heath. The bandstand will move through soul, jazz, reggae, ska and rock, with sets from John Etheridge and Vimala Rowe, The Bohème Hot Club and Peace & Love.
