The UK's biggest textile craft show comes to Ally Pally: 300 specialist suppliers under one roof selling yarn, fabric, thread and every tool you could need, plus workshops, demos and galleries of textile art. From £15.50, under 5s free.

Slavery and the Square Mile: A Hidden Story | 📍The London Archives, EC1R | 10 October | Free
Talk tracing the City of London's direct role in the transatlantic slave trade, the streets, buildings and institutions involved, the people who fought abolition, and the banks and firms that have since issued apologies. Led by City guide Sarah Brierley. Free, 3pm to 4.30pm, book ahead.

Welsh Autumn Market | 📍London Welsh Centre, WC1X | 10 October | (£)
Over 50 Welsh traders in the London Welsh Centre for a day: handmade gifts, food, drink, jewellery, homeware and artwork. The market is also raising money to install a lift and improve accessibility in a building that's been here since 1937. Suggested donation £5 when booking, dogs welcome. 10am to 5.30pm.

Cool Beans! | 📍St John's URC, EN5 | 10 October | Free
There's more to life than baked beans! Incredible Edible Barnet celebrates the brilliance of beans with cooking demos, taste tests, broad bean seeds to take home and grow, and recipe ideas. Free, first come first served on food and seeds. 4pm to 6pm.

Our Stokey Market | 📍Church Street, N16 | 10 - 11 October | Free
Vintage and makers market on Church Street in Stoke Newington, started by locals who wanted a market they'd actually want to visit. Fashion, homeware, ceramics, art and jewellery. Coffee on site, dogs welcome. 11am to 5pm both days.


Open Studios Muswell Hill and Alexandra Park | 📍Muswell Hill & Alexandra Park | 10 - 11 October | Free
Seventy local artists open their front rooms, garden sheds and cafés this weekend so you can wander in, look at their work, talk to them and buy directly. Paintings, ceramics, prints and handmade jewellery across 40 venues. New this year: start at Ally Pally's East Court where every artist has one piece on show before you follow the trail. Free, 11am to 5pm both days.

Highgate Vintage Furniture & Flea Market | 📍Lauderdale House, N6 | 11 October | (£)
Vintage furniture dealers from across the UK set up inside and outside Lauderdale House in Waterlow Park, selling mid-century furniture, homewares, ceramics, lighting, art and vintage fashion. Entry from £5 early, £2 after 2pm, free from 3pm. Dogs welcome, cafe on site.

Local London Guiding Day | 📍King's Cross & Old Street | 10 October | Free
Every year London's guiding associations put on free walks, and this year's theme is how yesterday's London became today's. King's Cross traces its journey from industrial wasteland to creative hub, meeting under the station clock tower. Old Street goes from Roman origins through Silicon Roundabout, meeting at Old Street station. Just turn up, or book ahead.




Classically Black | 📍King's Place, N1 | 10 October | (£)
Classical music has always had Black composers and musicians. This day at King's Place celebrates them: live performances, a panel on race and representation, a youth showcase and Down with the Patribachy, a live podcast touring the history of Western classical music through its overlooked names. Full and half day passes. 10 October.

Motown Day Party | 📍BOXPARK Wembley, HA9 | 10 October | Free
Why not spend an afternoon dancing to Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye at BOXPARK Wembley. Free, 3pm to 8pm.


Afternoon Poems: Travels, Journeys and Adventures | 📍Keats House, NW3 | 11 October | Free
Sit in the garden of Keats House in Hampstead on a Sunday afternoon and listen to travel poems read aloud, funny, strange and adventurous ones too. Free, doors 2pm.

Islington Community Art Festival | 📍Whittington Park Community Centre, N19 | 10 - 18 October | Free
Local artists share their stories through paintings, prints, photographs and collage across a free exhibition at Whittington Park Community Centre in Archway. Opening day Saturday 10 October has talks, mini-workshops and welcome drinks. Free, 10am to 5pm.


Stroud Green Harvest Market | 📍Stroud Green School, N4 | 11 October | Free
Apples are the theme and hundreds of Perry Court Farm varieties are coming, some boozy, some juicy, some tarty. Jazz and folk, a pumpkin hunt for the kids, Gwatkins Hereford cider and a keg brewed just for the day. Free, in the school playground on Perth Road opposite the Faltering Fullback. Come early, things sell out. 10am to 3.30pm.



Forty Hall Farm Harvest Gathering | 📍Forty Hall Farm, EN2 | 11 October | Free
You could pick squash from the field, press grapes with the vineyard and celebrate Apple Day in the orchard, all at Forty Hall Farm in Enfield. Farmers' market, street food from Punjabi Shack, Syrian toasties, pizza and dumplings, and a bouncy castle for the kids. Grab your boots. Free, 10am to 3pm.

OmVed Gardens Autumn Open Day | 📍OmVed Gardens, N6 | 11 October | Free
OmVed Gardens in Highgate opens up for an autumn afternoon with artist Rachel Kitchlew's Urban Fungarium installation to explore, plus seasonal treats from the kitchen. 11am to 3pm.



Apple Day Festival | 📍Kentish Town City Farm, NW5 | 11 October | (£)
Kentish Town City Farm throws open its gates for Apple Day: handle the animals, taste apples, eat from the BBQ and make things in the crafts area. £1 adults, 50p children. 12pm to 4pm.

Women Will Create: Makers Market | 📍Abney Public Hall, N16 | 10 - 11 October | Free
Women Will Create is back at Abney Public Hall on Church Street with 25-plus female-owned small businesses, baked goods from The Snackist and some spooky bits for Halloween. 11.30am to 5pm both days.
American football is back in London, and BOXPARK Camden is turning game day into an all day affair. NFL fans can meet there before the match for hot dogs, beer pong, DJs and drinks on the rooftop, then come back afterwards and keep the day going. You don’t need to be heading to the stadium either, so it also works as a gathering spot for anyone who wants to spend the day around other NFL fans. From 11am to 11pm.

Come Mek We Larf | 📍Millfield Theatre, N18 | 10 October | (£)
African Caribbean comedy night at Millfield in Edmonton: four comedians, a Caribbean buffet of jerk chicken and curry mutton before the show, and a free after-party DJ until midnight. Hosted by Mr Cee. £30 show ticket, buffet £18 on the night (call 0208 807 6680). Doors 5pm, show 7pm. Over 18s.


London Barndance Company | 📍Cecil Sharp House, NW1 | 10 October | (£)
Someone calls out the moves as you go, so you can walk in knowing nothing and be dancing within minutes. Live music, contras, square sets and couple dances at Cecil Sharp House on Regent's Park Road. Also you may get hot, bring a water bottle. £17, under 18s £5. 8pm to 11pm.

Visit Keats House | 📍Keats House, NW3 | Sundays 11am - 5pm | (£)
John Keats wrote Ode to a Nightingale in the garden of this Hampstead villa in 1819. You can walk round it on Sundays, see where he lived and loved, and catch the current exhibition before it closes on 1 November. £2.80 for local residents, £10.30 full price, under 18s free. No booking needed.



The Big Draw at Broomfield Park | 📍Broomfield Park, N13 | 10 October | Free
Slow down, look at the park around you and draw what you see. The Friends of Broomfield Park are taking part in the Big Draw Festival with a drop-in drawing session by the Palmers Greenery café gazebo. Pencils, charcoal and paints all provided, all ages welcome, children with an adult. 10am to 4pm.


North London Curated: Home | 📍Floral Hall, N8 | 11 October | Free Homeware market at Floral Hall in Crouch End for anyone who's particular about what goes in their home. Vintage ceramics, art, textiles, candles and one-off furniture pieces. Curated, not crowded. Free, 10am to 5pm.

Grumpy Market and Friends | 📍127 Stoke Newington High Street, N16 | 10 October | Free
Small independent market on Stokey High Street with slow fashion, ceramics, art prints and handmade goods, plus Natasha Joseph painting live portraits on the day. There's also a Sylvanian Families keychain workshop if you book a spot. Free entry, 11am to 6pm.

Guided Walk: The Story of Willesden Jewish Cemetery | 📍Willesden Jewish Cemetery, NW10 | 11 October | (£)
Willesden Jewish Cemetery has been burying London's Jewish families since 1873 and is still active today. This 75-minute guided walk tells the story of how it began, the people behind it and the listed monuments across the site. Up to 25 people per walk, wheelchairs available on request. £10, concessions £8.

Queer Britain Museum | 📍Granary Square, N1C | Until 23 December | Pay what you can
Queer Britain is the UK’s national LGBTQ+ museum, tucked just behind King’s Cross in Granary Square. Its galleries bring together objects, photographs, print and personal stories from LGBTQ+ life and history, with displays changing throughout the year. If you visit this autumn, you’ll find From Exclusion to Inclusion, telling the stories of LGBTQ+ veterans who were dismissed from the armed forces when they were banned from serving, alongside Trans is Human until 29 November. From 21 October there’s also a film and installation built around A Gay Song, an LGBTQ+ protest song first recorded on vinyl in 1972 and re-recorded by the original band more than 50 years later. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 12pm to 6pm. Pay what you can, with £10 suggested or £5 if you’re under 30.

Bloomsbury Festival | 📍Various venues, WC1 | 1 - 31 October | Free/(£)
A month of events across Bloomsbury's museums, galleries and labs for the festival's 20th year. This year's programme includes a medical comedy night, filmmaking workshops, Diwali celebrations and museum treasure hunts. Over 150 events in total, most free or low cost.

Month of the Dead | 📍Various venues| 1 October - 1 November | (£)
Festival of talks, cemetery tours and silent horror film screenings about death, dying and what comes after. Many events come with a free gin punch on arrival. Over 60 events across London through October, some of the sell out fast.

Korea: 2,000 Years of Creativity | 📍British Museum, WC1B | 1 October - 31 January 2027 | (£)
Two thousand years of Korean art at the British Museum: ancient gold jewellery, Buddhist sculpture, 12th-century celadon pottery and ink landscapes through to work made in living memory. Most of it has never been shown in the UK before. Daily 10am to 5pm, Fridays until 8.30pm.

Nazi Slave Labour: Perpetrators and Victims | 📍Wiener Holocaust Library, WC1 | Until 30 October | Free
Between 1939 and 1945, twenty million people were forced to work for the Nazi regime. This exhibition at the Wiener Holocaust Library shows how it worked: the SS, I.G. Farben, Krupp and other companies that profited, the company files and eyewitness testimony that documented it, and portraits of survivors photographed by Mike Stone

The Operating Theatre: 250 Years of Surgery in Hospitals | 📍Hunterian Museum, WC2A | Until 31 October | Free
Exhibition tracing how hospital operating theatres have changed since the 18th century, starting with a recently rediscovered painting of a leg amputation before anaesthesia existed, and ending with photographs of NHS surgical teams today. Free with museum entry, Wednesday to Saturday.

Seeing the Potential | 📍Swiss Cottage Gallery, NW3 | Until 10 December | Free
Matthew Small makes portraits of people on salvaged metal and discarded surfaces, materials rescued from the skip given a new life carrying someone's face. Part of Camden's Black History Season. Free, walk-ins welcome, Tuesday to Saturday 11am to 5pm.
