Hey Neighbour,
The annual North London winter fairs & markets guide is officially in the works.
Last year so many of you said it was really useful, so it's back.
If you're organising a winter fair or market, or you know of one, fill in the form and I'll add it to the guide.
Now, over to your weekend plans.

🪑Tufnell Park Yard Sale has been running for 15 years. This year, I finally met the person behind it.

📋 Round Up
Bits and bobs worth knowing.
🚂 Good news if you use Euston station: Euston's getting a £50m upgrade - first up, more seating, better waiting areas and actually decent toilets. And those last-minute platform announcements that send everyone sprinting? Gone within a year. Oh and Avanti West Coast - not exactly known for punctual trains - is being nationalised from March 2027. Better WiFi and 5G on the trains too while they're at it.
⚽ Spurs have been quietly trying to buy two historic Enfield buildings - who knew: Documents obtained under freedom of information laws reveal Tottenham Hotspur held secret talks to buy Whitewebbs House (currently a Toby Carvery pub restaurant) and Myddelton House, one of Enfield's prettiest historic gardens open to the public. Both moves failed. Neither is for sale. And nobody knows what Spurs actually wanted them for.
☕ Update on the campaign to keep the existing café operators at Parliament Hill Fields Lido, Queen's Park and Highgate Wood: The City of London Corporation took Hoxton Beach (who currently run all three) to court seeking eviction. On 21 September a County Court judge ruled this is too complex for a standard eviction and set a hearing for May 2027, meaning the cafés aren't changing hands any time soon. Meanwhile the bigger question is whether the City of London's original tendering process was even legal, that’s still being decided by the High Court.
🪑Tufnell Park Yard Sale has been running for 15 years. This year, I finally met the person behind it.

Tessa Wire started it with a few neighbours and her children’s outgrown things. We talked about how one street became 14, why she barely buys anything at her own yard sale, and what she thinks can happen when neighbours simply come outside, even when they have nothing to sell.
